Our next festival will be held 13-18 May 2019, and once again at the delightful Barn Theatre in Welwyn Garden City.
We are very pleased to announce that our adjudicator will be Chris Baglin GoDA.
If you wish to enter a play, please complete an entry form and send it, along with a printed copy of the script, to the address on the form.
The closing date for entries is 31st January 2019. We will aim to inform you around the beginning of April whether your entry has been accepted, and which day your performance has been scheduled.
If this is the first time you have entered the Welwyn Drama Festival, please ensure you familiarise yourselves with the rules and technical information. If you have any questions, please get in touch.
Thinking of entering a play to the prestigious Welwyn Drama Festival? Now’s your chance! The website has been updated and this year’s entry form is available to download.
You will also find other information to support your entry: our rules; a checklist of what needs to be done; stage information; a guide to what adjudicators are looking for, written by the current chairman of the Guild of Drama Adjudicators, Jan Palmer Sayer.
Our adjudicator this year will be Chris Baglin GoDA. This will be his first visit to the Welwyn Drama Festival. Chris was seen at the Barn Theatre last year adjudicating our sister festival, the Welwyn Garden City Youth Drama Festival.
Wishing a Merry Christmas to all friends and supporters of the Welwyn Drama Festival! Hoping to see you in May 2018 at the Barn Theatre for the 84th Festival, as performer, crew or audience member. Best wishes from the Chairman and Directors.
The 83rd Welwyn Drama Festival is just two weeks away, have you got your tickets yet? Thirteen teams are busy with their last few rehearsals of fourteen plays, sorting costumes and props, arranging transport for their set or working out the best route to the Barn Theatre. Why not take a look at the schedule and select your night, then pop over to the Barn Theatre website to buy your tickets online. Just £10 a night, or £38 for all 6 nights. Bring a friend, and see how close you get to the adjudicator’s choice – there might be a bottle of Waitrose bubbly in it for you!
All our entries are in, scripts have been read, availability of teams have been considered and the schedule of plays proposed. Once all teams have confirmed their availability the programme will be published on our website. 6 weeks to go!
4 months to go until the festival opens, 10 days to get your entry in! As always we will accept late entries over the next few weeks but need to have the chance to read and review the scripts, organise the programme and ramp up the publicity. So if you are thinking of entering this year, please let us know and get your script to us as soon as you can.
Thank you so much, looking forward to another successful Welwyn Drama Festival!
