2 weeks to go!

The 83rd Welwyn Drama Festival is just two weeks away, have you got your tickets yet? Thirteen teams are busy with their last few rehearsals of fourteen plays, sorting costumes and props, arranging transport for their set or working out the best route to the Barn Theatre. Why not take a look at the schedule and select your night, then pop over to the Barn Theatre website to buy your tickets online. Just £10 a night, or £38 for all 6 nights. Bring a friend, and see how close you get to the adjudicator’s choice – there might be a bottle of Waitrose bubbly in it for you!

Have you entered yet?

4 months to go until the festival opens, 10 days to get your entry in!  As always we will accept late entries over the next few weeks but need to have the chance to read and review the scripts, organise the programme and ramp up the publicity. So if you are thinking of entering this year, please let us know and get your script to us as soon as you can.

Thank you so much, looking forward to  another successful Welwyn Drama Festival!

Welwyn Drama Festival 2017

Thinking of entering a one act play into some drama festivals? Why not include the Welwyn Drama Festival in May 2017, held at the Barn Theatre, Welwyn Garden City? We believe that we are the longest-running one-act drama festival in the UK and are proud of our welcoming, friendly and helpful stage crew. We welcome teams from all over the country. We are not a qualifying round for the AETF, but our winners are eligible for the NDFA British All-Winners Festival, usually held in July. Our adjudicator this year is former GoDA chairman and Director  of the Swan Theatre, Worcester, Chris Jaeger MBE GoDA.

Explore the information on our website and download an entry-form-2017. Entries are welcome any time, with a closing date of 31st January 2017.

Looking forward to hearing from you!

2016 programme published!

Although we are still searching for a replacement for Tuesday 24 May, following the recent withdrawal of one of our teams, we are very pleased to publish the programme of plays for the 82nd Welwyn Drama Festival.

Please note, the programme is subject to alteration without notice, so if you are planning to see a specific play you may wish to wait until we have filled our vacant slot, as it may be necessary to reorganise the programme a little to accommodate a new team.

However, due to the availability of some of our teams, particularly those travelling longer distances, we will not be making changes to the programme for Monday 23 May, or Saturday 28 May at this stage.

Tickets are available from the Barn Theatre
