2016 programme published!

Although we are still searching for a replacement for Tuesday 24 May, following the recent withdrawal of one of our teams, we are very pleased to publish the programme of plays for the 82nd Welwyn Drama Festival.

Please note, the programme is subject to alteration without notice, so if you are planning to see a specific play you may wish to wait until we have filled our vacant slot, as it may be necessary to reorganise the programme a little to accommodate a new team.

However, due to the availability of some of our teams, particularly those travelling longer distances, we will not be making changes to the programme for Monday 23 May, or Saturday 28 May at this stage.

Tickets are available from the Barn Theatre

Find the play

I recently visited the Performing Arts (PA) Library in Welwyn Garden City on their Open Day.  I got talking to one of the librarians about holding a joint Open Day for people, teams, Directors etc. interested in taking part in the Welwyn Drama Festival.  There are many one-act plays sitting on the shelves at the PA library, just waiting for you to take a look.  They are helpfully subcategorised into male-only, female-only and mixed parts. The library staff can help with further searches and can organise the borrowing of sets of scripts. The festival organisers will be present to provide help and guidance if you have no experience of festivals and we might even be joined by a GoDA adjudicator to share hints and tips for a successful festival production.  Please let me know if you’d be interested in attending such an event.  If it goes ahead, it is likely to be held in the late Autumn.
