5 days to go!

ChrisBaglinOur professional adjudicator, Chris Baglin, is all ready to join us for the 85th Welwyn Drama Festival! Are you?

Never been to a Competitive Drama Festival? Want to know more?

Are you an Actor?

Come along and watch others perform in a friendly and competitive environment. Assess their performances yourself, then listen to the adjudicator’s comments at the end of the evening – there might be some useful tips to apply to your own performance!

Are you a Director?WDF logo jpeg

You will see two or three contrasting plays performed each night. Would you have directed it differently? Did you see any directorial devices that you could use in the future? Finally, listen to the adjudicator’s comments – they always start their adjudication with a brief description of what they are looking for from each piece.

Are you a budding writer?

We have 6 new plays being performed at the Welwyn Drama Festival this year, some of which have been written by award-winning writers. Come along and watch them being performed from a writer’s perspective – was the play structured well? Were the characters well-drawn? You might even gain inspiration for your own writing!

For a new play, the adjudicator will comment on the script as well as the performance, and there’s a prize for the Best Unpublished Play at the end of the week. Will you agree with the adjudicator?
